Boitumelo, CEO of the South African Health Products Regulator, holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and an MSc in Management Finance and Investment. She chairs the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization Initiative and is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative. Previously, she served as Executive Director at CSIR Biosciences, managed a biotechnology incubator at The Innovation Hub Management Company, and was a McKinsey Leadership Fellow.
Boitumelo’s background includes roles as a Senior Researcher at CSIR, postdoctoral research at the University of Nottingham and EPFL, Switzerland, and publications in scientific journals. She contributes to various scientific advisory committees, boards, and thought leadership projects, including the African Union Strategy for Health Research and WHO Expert Panel on scaling health innovations in Africa. She was a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee at the National Department of Health.
