Prof. Wolmarans (Department of Pharmacology of the North-West University) completed his B.Pharm.
(2004), M.Sc. (Pharmacology; 2011), and Ph.D. (Pharmacology; 2015) degrees at the NWU. He lectures cell-based and endocrine pharmacology to third- and fourth-year B.Pharm. students and is the course coordinator for the short course on ‘Family Planning and Reproductive Health’ of the NWU. Over the past 18 years, roughly 3,500 South African pharmacists were trained by him. His research focuses on
neuropsychopharmacology, and he chairs the NWU research subprogramme: ‘Translational Neuroscience
and Neurotherapeutics’.
Prof. Wolmarans practices in the academic, community, and institutional pharmacy spheres and consults as a pharmacological expert in matters of professional negligence and malpractice. He currently serves as an elected member of the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and is a member of the Pharmaceutical
Society of South Africa (PSSA).
